"Jesus is a Brand of Jeans" Move 4: Looking for Patterns

• Product > Relationship
• Objectification of people in the relationships
• Products cannot fulfill you, unlike open and meaningful relationships
• Products cannot really betray you, but they can break you financially and emotionally
• Advertisements create artificial needs and play to our desires
• Advertisements impact us first and foremost subconsciously
• Advertising campaigns try to create and nurture addictions
• Advertisements use sexual lust to promote their products
• Advertisements try to make their products divine or heavenly
• Jose Cuervo advertisement: binary opposition- background is poverty, foreground is desireable and/or superior
• Crown Royal advertisement: anomaly- gargantuan liquor bottle located on top of the world
