The-Axe-Effect advertisement for Axe Body Spray aggressively targets men to buy their product. The featured ad successfully delivers the message that using Axe Body Spray will attract the attention of girls and cause them to want you. This message is conveyed through the picture of the girl using her hand to depict the "call me" sign. Then directly beneath her the phrase "The-Axe-Effect" cements the message that the reason the girl wants you to call her is because she can smell the Axe scent. Furthermore, the perspective of the advertisement is as if you are the one standing face to face with the girl and she is asking you to call her. This makes the ad almost personal for the guy who looks at it and wants what is being shown. The ad plays off of a man's desire to be wanted by a girl and actively pursued by her. This Axe advertisement for body spray conveniently utilizes known desires of men to successfully market and sell the company's product. Would it be safe to say this ad would work on almost every straight man? If not, what possible aspects of the ad would make it unsuccessful?
