Gerow: How Will I Know?

How Will I Know? by Keke Palmer

In the song How Will I Know? By Keke Palmer she questions about what true love is. Keke is only sixteen years old and still confused if what she is feeling is true love or just something that she thinks is love. At sixteen how do you really know what true love is? The only sources you have to look at are from the media like television shows and movies or from things you hear from other people that are in love. But maybe as Keke suggests it really doesn't matter about age because when your truly in love you will know it. The things she feels, she believes are real so could that really mean that shes in love or is it just another kid who thinks their first crush is true love? How can anyone really ever tell you what true love is because there really is no clear definition to it. The only people who define it are the people in the media and pop culture, as we have been talking about in class. Just because pop culture tries to tell us what love is doesn't mean its right though. So if you really don't have a true definition to what love is then like Keke says “Don't tell me I'm to young to know what's real.” Or is she just naïve and being a kid? Is their an age when we truly know what true love is?

  1. This would be a great primary source to do your primary source analysis on. i love the questions you ask at the end. you can get alot of information out of this song and tie it in with our topic in class very well.
