THIENEMAN:Primary Source #2:AU10

This is an ad for towels at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. In the image, there is a family with two children. The whole family is sitting on a bed, and they all seem to be very happy. The father is looking down at his daughter and smiling. The mom is holding the feet of the other daughter and smiling. One of the daughters is laughing. They seem like the perfect, happy family. The towels aren't the main focus of the ad; the family is the main focus. Because of this, the ad definitely plays on our emotions. Many people desire this sort of family. For these people, they may want to buy the towels for that reason. Even though they know buying the towels won't actually make them have a family, it feels like they are a step closer. This ad relates to our theme because people often think that the will be loved when they have a family. They think that having a family will fulfill all their needs. However, can one not be loved and fulfilled without having a family? Does having children always lead to happiness? Does having a family ever make one unhappy?
