Sicong Hua: The First Individual Blog Post

This image was cur from a Chanel advertisement, portraying a woman dressed in Chanel suit and standing beside the window. It seems like she is desired to get out of the house. From the background of the picture and hte structure of the house, we can say that it was happended 40 -50 years ago. At that time, women were viewed as housewife and babysitters, they had to stay at home and dealt with different kinds of housewifechores. However, after the Second World War, there weremorejobs were provided and the companies needed more labot force to join in their groups. So women were encouraged to leave home and become a worker or something like that. When more and more women left home and got jobs their had a psychological transition which made them to be more confident. It seemed like they were intended to obtain more previleges. Chanel appeared in the right place and providfed females suits which came from the male style of suits. So that might be the reason for the young lady in this picture to perform like this. Chanel is trying to convey the idea of feminism. In fact, Chanel is always the advocate of feminism for about 100 years. She is the one of the strongest voice for females in modern culture, encouraging them to strving for their own dreams and being more independent. Now have you guys think about the deep meaning of feminism? What kind of spirit for Chanel suit that brings to her comsumers? Do you agree with Chanel's tendency about feminism?

  1. Hi Sicong,

I have a couple of questions. First, this is a modern ad-- where are you getting the idea that this photo was taken 40-50 years ago? Also, feminism is more than just allowing women to enter the work force. It's a much deeper statement than you seem to be condensing it to here. Can you speak to this more in-depth?
