This picture portrays a man and a woman, they are kissing each other. It seems like they fall in love, deeply. The man is holding a red umbrella, which help them to protect their secrets about their love. In fact, this image indicate the truth that in modern culture, it doesn't matter who you are and what you looks like. Once you fall in love with someone, you two will create your own world and definitely you guys will enjoy yourselves in your private world. Love is like a magical chemical cataluyzer which accelerates the reaction between two person. It suggests that we are on the right path of love if we insists our emotional tendency. What we are thinking about is like the color of the unbrella, we have passion and enthusiasm to deal with it. Even we get older, we will still remember the happiest time in our life. It's not about the person who we love, it's about the love itself. The basic structure of the rhetoric of love in pop culture is all about this: private world. Love is private, it help us to create a sweet home for us to reserve our life. ... So, we can still use our brain to think about a problem: what is meaning of the lake? Do you agree with the definition of love in this image? What kind of idealized love you want? Do you think that love should be a private world for men and women?

  1. Hi Sicong,

As we've spoken about in class, an important part of understanding a rhetorical argument is thinking about the audience and purpose of a text. I don't have a good sense of why this image was created-- is it an art piece? An advertisement? Try to go a little deeper in your analysis.
