Individual Blog Post 1

This Arby’s advertisement is introducing the new Roastburger. The ad has two Arby’s sandwiches and hands that are grabbing them. In the advertisement, the sandwiches are placed in a way is hinting to someone grabbing a girl’s chest. Arby’s is saying that these sandwiches would be better than that. The quote on the bottom reads “We’re about to reveal something you’ll really drool over.” Arby’s is trying to sell that their product can replace a relationship. Not only that, they are saying that the Arby’s sandwiches would be better. In this quote, the use of really is trying to convince you that this product is what you really want. Arby’s is trying to draw you in to their product by making it higher than something men already like. Therefore concluding if men like women’s chest they will like the new Arby’s sandwich. The ad seems to be geared to men more, since they are comparing grabbing the sandwiches to grabbing a women’s chest. Also underneath the main quote also states “What a tease.” This quote is also comparing their product to women. Arby’s is trying to sell their product by comparing it to something men want. Arby’s is using a well-known stereotype that men are attracted to a women’s chest. Also the ad has the line “Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until March for the full mouthwatering experience.” This quote is also trying to make their product desirable again by the same comparison. Another thing is, in the ad the lighting is very bright, hinting that these sandwiches are perfect, and nothing is better than them.

  1. Flipping through these ads, I can't believe some of them! What kind of mature adults come up with these things? I'm just confused why so many companies think that sex is the best way to sell their product... in the past decades, I really don't think that this kind of advertising was dominant..but yet products still got sold. Why does our society have to flush all it's morals down the drain to make a buck?
