Tamar Truelsch: Blog post 2

Individual Blog Post Two

This ad is for Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen. Hawaiian Tropic doesn’t even include the sunscreen in the advertisement. The main focus of the ad is a girl in a bikini. This is straight points out that Hawaiian Tropic is selling the girl to sell their own product. The girl is walking through water. The surrounding ocean is also very appealing. The water is separating and the waves are rising and surrounding her. The colors of the water are bright and clear, drawing even more interest to their product. Hawaiian tropic is using sarcasm to show the power of the sunscreen. The ad is trying to sell the product by pushing it to the extreme. We as consumers know that this is not a possibility, but we cant help but feel a sense of power from it. The advertisement is strongly geared to men because that is definitely the type of crowd that would be drawn to this image. Hawaiian Tropic is using the image of an attractive woman to drawn in consumers. Hawaiian Tropic is assuming that men care more about women then their product. Men would want to see this because of the woman involved but women may also be drawn to this. Women may have the thought this is what they want and in order to get it, they need this product. This is a scam that many companies used, but for some people it is effective. They look at the image and like what they see. The advertisement is tricking are minds to believe that this product is what we need.
