Megan's Individual Blog Post 2

This image is an ad for Perry Ellis fragrances for men and women. This shows a man and woman intimately standing and holding each other. They are both tan, fit and attractive with dark hair. The scene is an ocean with a blue sky and white clouds and there is no one else around. The serene setting is attractive because it is calm and seems to promise relaxation. The white clothes they are wearing contrast with their skin and hair and the white color is appealing because it implies clean and simple. It seems to be pure and free from blemishes. The thing about this ad is that wearing this cologne will not make you as attractive as the people in this picture. It seems to say that these people wear this cologne so if you wear it you will look like them. It also can not promise another person and a relationship with that person as implied here. The simplicity of the ocean and the calm it brings are also appealing but simplicity and calm will not come to the lives of people who purchase and use this cologne like it does to the people pictured. The ad pulls at our desires and our emotions making us correlate the fragrances with the perfection and simplicity of the image.
