Hearts on Fire

"The world's most perfectly cut diamond."
"The perfect diamond for the perfect woman."

These phrases in the company's advertisement stress the flawlessness regarding their jewelry, but also hint at a perfect relationship with a perfect woman. It is the ad's purpose to play off of every man's desire for a wonderful, loving relationship and link this type of perfection with their products. This forces men to believe a diamond from "Hearts on Fire" will somehow complete or perfect their current relationship. Furthermore, the featured attraction of this ad is an attractive couple holding eachother appearing very happy together. The couple seems perfect which cements the message to the consumer that "Hearts on Fire" jewelery is high quality perfection in more ways than one.

  1. Great analysis! I think it is good to see that this ad isn't necessarily derogatory towards women like a lot of the others. It is almost insinuating that women are perfect, like diamonds. You have done a good job at looking deeper than just that, though!

  2. I totally agree with your analysis. It is unfair for guys to have to try to live up to the perfect relationship that the hearts on fire diamond is supposed to create. It makes material posessions seem more important than the connection between the guy and the girl.
