Kay Jewelers: "Every kiss begins with Kay"

These four ads are examples of Kay Jewelers attempting to place in the minds of consumers a connection between their jewelry and healthy relationships. Everyone desires to some extent a relationship like those pictured in the ads. The couples seem perfectly happy and in love. The couple, not the jewelry is the main focus of the ad for a reason. It takes advantage of people's desire for this type of human connection. In addition, the phrase "Every kiss begins with Kay" sticks with you and you remember it. Even if not consciously, the subconscious will connect kissing with Kay Jewelers. Obviously not every kiss begins with Kay, but the idea is planted in the mind. For example, even as I was simply searching for a primary source ad relating to our theme, the line "Every kiss begins with Kay" just popped into my head. I haven't seen one of these ads in months. It just sticks with you.

  2. Again, these adds make matertial possesions seem more important than the personal connection between the guy and the girl. And I agree with Katie. The personal note at the end really brings home your point.
