"Jesus is a Brand of Jeans" Move 1: Suspend Judgement

What we find interesting:

· Many people think that they are not being influenced by ads, but so many people are affected by ads subconsciously. Only 8% of an ads message is received by the conscious mind.

· The companies will go to almost any extent just to sell their product. For example, the alcohol companies try and target the alcoholics even though they know that alcoholism is a problem in society.

· Companies play on the fact that people are unsure about relationships. They try to portray that you can have a relationship with a product and it will be more fulfilling than a relationship with a person.

· They often use women as a sex icons/objects and the center of the advertisement.They are also starting to use men as sex icons.

· They stereotype men and women, and portray them as perfect. We get a false sense of who we are supposed to be, and this leads to the average person having low self esteem.

· Advertisements lead to narcissism.
