Van Dril: Post 1

This is a Three Olives Vodka advertisement where there is a woman in minimal clothes resembling Superwomen is in a martini glass. Behind her there is lightning and seems to make the martini electric. The woman also has a seductive look on her face and to the right of the martini glass it says “What’s in your martini?”
This advertisement is creating a feeling of lust for any that look at it. They will see this woman in their martini and immediately feel like if they have Three Olives Vodka they will be able to draw in a woman of this stature. The lightning in the background also gives the illusion that you will feel electric and essentially invincible when you have these sorts of martinis. Finally the saying on the right of the woman reiterates the idea that she will be an obtainable object with the use of Three Olives Vodka. This advertisement was probably directed towards those that want to feel like a superhero it general has that futuristic feel.

  1. This is a good primary source as well. I think this is one example of an ad objectifying women. The woman is more an object than a person. It relates to our theme because it is using lust and love to sell a product. It would be interesting to research if men are more inclined to buy or use things that have attractive women in the ads.
